Workplace Injury Commission
Workplace Injury Commission
If you decide to dispute a decision about compensation, The Workplace Injury Commission (WIC) handles the dispute. They are a Victorian Government authority and provide injured workers with access to independent and impartial services to resolve disputes.
One of the pathways that your dispute goes down is conciliation.
You can apply for conciliation if;
- A WorkCover Agent/Insurer has made a decision on your claim that you don’t agree with; or
- A WorkCover Agent/insurer has not responded to a request or has not made a payment on your claim within a reasonable time.
You can also apply for further conciliation of a dispute if you have a Dismissal Certificate from WIC.
Check out some resources below from the WIC website on conciliation.

If your dispute cannot be resolved through conciliation, you can go down the pathway of arbitration. We recommend contacting your union or Union Assist before applying for arbitration.
