Jennifer Bearham

Hi I'm Jennifer Bearham. I live in Western Victoria and have 2 amazing sons and 2 step sons, 2 gorgeous Maltese dogs 3 very fluffy cats and I enjoy if I can manage painting, reading, movies, assorted arts and crafts.
I am a former teacher and also worked as a PCA in residential care at the time of my injury as well as State Coordinator (post Injury) for Disability Service and Residential Coordinator gor another organisation and Family Support Program Facilitator for another NFP.
I joined the IWSN Vic in 2019 after finding them on Facebook. Knowing I have the support of the VTHC, gave me the confidence to fight for my rights, even though it took a very large toll mentally.
I was injured in Feb 2010 where I had a workplace back injury and after 12 months was placed on permanently modified duties in a new job until continuous falls worsened my condition in 2015 and was reinstated to weekly payments after 12 months of delay after delay after conciliation. I loved my jobs.
My insurer lied on so many occasions to avoid a decision that should have taken 28 days and left me without the ability to shower and other necessary supports for almost 12 months during this time until Jan 2017.
I have to use a crutch or walker now. I have worked closely with the group in dealing with my own case against my insurer and IME. They were instrumental in providing me with the knowledge to have the Minister see that I was a text book example of the corruption within the Worksafe IME system.
My insurer terminated my claim based on false information from my IME. My IME claimed two limbs diagnosed were on opposite side to actual injuries! This report caused a biased report by the insurers OT, refusing basic essential assistance.
Luckily last year's Ombudsman report came out 2 days before conciliation and the insurer was instructed to reverse the decision and backdate all services
The fight will never be over till Doctors such as him are removed as IMEs. Thank you IWSNVic You saved me!
