I'm one of the founding members of this support network - and am always working to help improve the lives of injured workers through campaigning and activism. My injury involved an infection with hospitalization. Initially my claim was knocked back because I hadn’t reported it within the 30 day period at my ACCS conference. After a three and a half year court case, a medical panel and a number of ongoing operations, the claim was accepted. Agent tried the 130 week cut off period to terminate my claim which was rejected.
My exposure to the WorkCover system and the deliberate mental abuse caused me to develop a deep ongoing depression.
An injured worker is a human being. The system can treat injured workers as a fraud, guilty until proven innocent, who continually has to justify their claim. An injured worker must start an assessment on equal grounds with the insurance agent.
